. . .and then I became a member of the varsity cross country club

It was Wednesday night. We've all been busy getting ready for church, the stoves' timer just (incessantly) announced that dinner was ready, and, after much clamor and scraping of chairs,  we were all sitting down to eat. Then, the phone rings. But that's nothing new, so I thought nothing about it. . .after answering the phone, my little sister, much to my surprise, hands. the. phone. to. ME. (I hate talking on the phone. . .no joke; it's scary)

"Uh, hello?"

"Hi, Kara? This is Mr. Crumbaugh, with the Clintonville Varsity Cross Country club."

*pause*

"Yes, this is Kara. . .hi!"

"We recently saw your score from the Prevea 5K that you did in September - you did a great job."

"Oh, haha, thanks!. . ."

"Well, we have an opening in the Varsity Cross Country Club that we'd love for you to fill. . .if you'd like. Are you interested!?"

*cue the crickets*

"Oh, uh, That sounds great! But let me talk to my parents and I'll get back to you, ok?"

Saying that it was, the chipper cross country coach left me his name and number and bade me a good evening. I was shocked. Almost shell shocked, if you'd like me to go into more detail. ;)

.....................................................................................................................................................

Turns out, that a parent from C-ville saw my scores (aka: min/mile pace) from the Bellin run and the Prevea 5K that I did, and contacted the local Varsity Cross Country Coach to tell him about me. They did some searching, found out I was homeschooled (kindof scary what people can find out. . .)and made sure it was "legal" to have me on the team before calling me.

I'm thrilled. . .and nervous. . .and surprised. . ..but then, in the midst of all those crazy emotions: unsure. WHAT SHOULD I DOOO!!!???? (Yikes. When an indecisive person like me is faced with a decision to be decided the next day. . .it's kindof a big deal) But, despite my indecision/nervousness, at the end of the day, I'm a member of the C-ville Varsity Cross Country Club. There are only a few meets left, so I'll be doing those few and seeing how I like it. :)

So. . .how's that for the surprises that life throws  your way?!

What?!? No way. :) Yay for you!
(haha, they had to check if you were "legal". . .I just busted laughing. There's so many weird rules about homeschooling!)
