In the Kitchen: Molasses Cookies

Molasses Cookies:

3/4 cup of shortening (I used butter)
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2. cups of flour
1/2 tsp. of cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients. Roll in to a ball. Dip in sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. *NOTE: when the cookies come out of the oven, they're very soft. I've found that waiting a few minutes before taking the cookies off the tray works best*

Kara, these are soooooo good. I think I'm going to write the recipe down and put it in my hopechest. I could call it "Kara's Cookies" - since these seem to be your special cookies.
