When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross

On which the Prince of Glory died,

My richest gain I count but loss

And pour contempt on all my pride

Forbid it Lord, that I should boast

Save in the death of Christ, my God;

All the vain things that charm me most

I sacrifice them to His blood

See, from His head, His hands, His feet,

Sorrow and love flow mingled down;

Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,

Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature min,
That were a present far to small;

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul, my life, my all

(tag) Demands my soul, my life, my all.

I don't think we all really think or know what those words mean. It means so much, but to most it's just another song we sing out of a book.

Really, that song, tells of His love for US! Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." We should give everything, our life, our soul, everything to Him. He paid for our sin. Something we could never do.

He deserves our all. Don't you agree?

In Him,

Kara

That's a beautiful song--and you are so right. Jesus just doesn't want us to live for Him sometimes; He wants us to be connected to Him always!

Have a lovely day, sweet gal! :)

My biggest peeve with modern day "hymns" is that they are absolutely insipid next to jewels like these. Words can be so rich.

This proves it.

''When I Survey'' is one of my favorite songs.
I can't remember if I've ever sang it in church.

Hi Kara!
I certainly do agree with you. I love that song, but I love HIM of whom the song speaks much, much more. I wrote a song called, "He'll do what you cannot do" and that has been the story of my life. So, when I run into something I know I can't do, I go to Jesus, who lives within me; because He can do all things. He is worthy of all our praise.
When this life is over, there is one thing I want to do...and that is to kneel at his feet, and tell Him how much I love Him. He has never failed me. Mamaw

Hi Kara I totally agree with you. I love that song, but I love Him of whom the song was written, much much more. He has never failed me, He's always there when I need Him. He is enough; and worthy of all our praise. We should live a life of surrender to His will, a life that will honor Him above all else. Mamaw Skaggs
