Something To Think About

This morning as we started our daily devotions, Mom decided to do something a little different than Our 24 Family Ways. She decided to read a few pages of "The Wisdom of Fenelon, The Education of a Child." This book, was written for adults and parents, but will make you really think; when you go through something hard, or someone says something unkind, Jesus went through that too, even worse! So, just think about Him when something hard comes into your life. Here are a few paragraphs from the book:

If they (the children) be desirous of praise and esteem, speak to them of the shame and insults which were heaped upon our Saviour; for He took upon himself the form of a servant and humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (skipped ahead a bit). If they cannot agree with those around them, represent Christ conversing with sinners and the most abominable hypocrites. If they testify ANY resentment, hasten to represent to them Jesus Christ dieing on the cross crying, " Father forgive them for they know not what they do;" even for those who put him to death.

Mom also brought in "What if Jesus was standing beside you when someone said something unkind and critical about you. Would He be pleased at how you responded?"

I'm just thankful that Christ died on the cross, so that when I do mess up and respond the wrong way, that I can go to God and the person I respond wrongly to, and be forgiven. You need Christ in your life, to humbly accept the words of hate and bitterness. Yes, you feel bad and you might cry, but if you have Christ, He will take the hurt, and give you the grace and help to forgive that person.

Just something to think about, hope you all have a great Fourth of July!!!

Writing for Him,

Kara

Kara,

I'm so glad you enjoyed our devotion time this morning. It is never easy to bear unkind, hurtful words, but as you stated so well, God can do it through you.

All of your efforts have been noticed and appreciated. I am overjoyed to see you growing more into His image.

Remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me."

Love you!

Thank'ee, quite nice of ye to notice!! :)

Thankfully, I'm not going through anything of the sort, but if anyone else is, I'm praying for them.

What a wonderful post as a reminder. If we think of all He went through, our trials and insults seem silly - or more than silly! More than constantly I have to remind myself - He didn't lash back at even the greatest insults, not only ones He suffered on the cross, but also those today!

And once again, thank'ee for the most wonderful day we had today! Tell Anna happy birthday for me again. :)

*hugs*

P.s. Is blogger not letting you space evenly? That's a hammer in your hand - yes, yes, I agree, use it. :)
